This is the original black and white that was commissioned by Games Workshop and from which I went off and made the nice colour one that won the DD. See it here: [link] The small Spacecraft are photographed models. Main model done in 3D Max and the rest was photoshop. You can see this ship in issue 44 of Inferno! magazine which is an ultramarines special. Oh dear god, I seem to have grown up to be the person my mother always warned me about
I must say, this black and white version is a much more moving piece in my opinion. It has such a stark feeling to it, more utilitarian then the colour version. It makes it look as though these ships are on their way to battle, and those men are prepairing to fight to the death if thats what it takes.
